Fungus gnats can be a common problem in isopod enclosures. Luckily, Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti) can be an effective natural solution to eliminate these pesky insects. Here is a step-by-step guide to using Bti to remove fungus gnats from your isopod enclosure:

1.Purchase Bti: Bti is a naturally occurring bacteria that is commonly used as a biological insecticide. It can be found in various forms, including liquid, granules, and powder. You can purchase Bti online or at your local garden center.

2. Prepare the Bti solution: To use Bti, you will need to prepare a solution by mixing the bacteria with water. The specific instructions for mixing the solution may vary depending on the type of Bti you purchase, so be sure to read the label carefully. In general, you will need to mix the Bti with water in a ratio of 1 part Bti to 10 parts water.

3. Apply the Bti solution: Once you have prepared the Bti solution, you can apply it to your isopod enclosure. You can use a spray bottle or watering can to apply the solution directly to the soil or substrate in your enclosure. Be sure to apply enough solution to thoroughly moisten the soil or substrate.

4.Repeat the application: Fungus gnats have a short life cycle, so it may take several applications of Bti to completely eliminate them from your isopod enclosure. Repeat the application of Bti every 7-10 days until you no longer see any signs of fungus gnats.

5. Monitor the enclosure: While Bti is generally safe for isopods and other beneficial insects, it is always a good idea to monitor your enclosure after applying any insecticide. Keep an eye out for any unusual behavior or changes in your isopods, and stop using Bti if you notice any negative effects.

By following these steps, you can effectively remove fungus gnats from your isopod enclosure using Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis. Remember to always read the label and follow the instructions carefully when using any insecticide, and monitor your enclosure closely to ensure the health and well-being of your isopods.
